Other Ceremonies

WEDDING VOW RENEWALS:
What a delightful way to celebrate a long and happy marriage.  You may wish to re-new your vows on a significant anniversary date or on any other special occasion in your life.

It’s a lovely way to honour your partner, acknowledge your family life and children, and other special people who took part in your journey together.

Together we can create a beautiful and meaningful ceremony, and one that I’m sure would include some funny and unforgettable moments.

COMMITMENT CEREMONIES:
The love between two people should be celebrated, whether they are of the same or opposite sex.

A commitment ceremony is a great way to seal your union ~ and publicly declare your love to each other in the presence of your family and friends ~ one that includes vows, exchange of rings and many other aspects of a wedding ceremony, and although not legally binding in this country yet, it is a lovely way to show friends and family how much you are committed to your relationship.

I would be happy to work with you to create a ceremony that reflects your love, your commitment to be together, and your desire to share your journey through life ~ totally committed to each other.

NAMINGS:
A naming ceremony is a delightful way to celebrate and acknowledge the gift of a new baby or child in your family.  The joy of having children in your life is worth celebrating, and this can be done by taking the time to honour and value them.

The ceremony introduces and acknowledges the child’s chosen name, and it is an expression, not only of your love and support, but the love and support of others who have been chosen to play an important role in the child’s life.

The ceremony can incorporate many rituals, such as tree planting, wishing stones, candle lighting etc.  I have many other ideas to help you make this a most memorable, joyful and unforgettable ceremony for both you and your child.

FUNERALS:
Death is a natural process, part of our spiritual journey ~ so is grief.

It is often daunting for you, your family and friends, when you are planning a funeral for a loved one.  Generally there is one thing that you desire, and that is that you want a dignified, professional, personal and fitting tribute to the one you held so dear.

I will give you guidance and support to achieve this, by creating a ceremony in consultation with you and/or your family, which reflects the beliefs, values and character of the deceased.  I’m sure there are many stories to be told, whether they be poignant or humourous ~ moments in a life ~ that can be shared with family and friends at this sad time.

Together we can make it the most memorable and unforgettable tribute to the one you loved so much.

PET FAREWELLS:
I am an animal lover, and have dogs of my own.  I found that when my much loved Rottweiler died several years ago, that there was a distinct lack of services which related to coping with the distress and bereavement of losing a much loved companion.  Anyone who has ever lost a beloved animal will know what I mean.  I felt she deserved a special service to honour her life, and her love and devotion to me and other members of my family.

It is because I have experienced the traumatic loss, that I am offering a service to assist you, when the moment you most dread arrives.

I offer a dignified Farewell Service for your special friend ~ be it a dog, cat, bird, fish or all manner of other pets that you may be mourning.  This can be at your home or at a favourite place, and this can include the scattering or burial of ashes, delivered with much understanding and compassion.

Hi Joan,

Thank you for all your help and guidance, not forgetting your great ideas, in the planning and leading of Darcy’s naming day ~ you so smoothly handled every detail.
Not only a beautiful day, but such a personal, friendly ceremony ~ especially how you entwined family and friends as one, in our symbolic blending of the sand ceremony.
Your warm spirit created much happiness.  It will be a day that each of us will always cherish.
Thank you once again for your help, and a wonderful and unforgettable ceremony.

Dear Joan,

How can we thank you enough for the fantastic job you did with Dad’s funeral.
He was a wonderful man, and you gave him the best send-off that we could have asked for.

We had so many people come up to us after the service to say that it was just lovely.  Some of our friends ~ who didn’t know Dad all that well ~ said that after your eulogy, they knew exactly what sort of husband, dad and grandfather he was.
You were very kind, caring and understanding and really managed to put into words about how we all felt about our Dad.

Thanks again Joan, we will be forever grateful for your efforts.

Love Kim and Neil  xxxx
